Barleythorpe Hall Rutland A Piece Of Rutland History To Be destroyed by Rutland Tories

Barleythorpe Hall Rutland, A Piece Of Rutland's History To Be destroyed by Rutland Tories, I must point out this was not he whole of Rutland County Council, just a few mindless cabinet members who rushed this through at a cabinet meeting just before the last election. At the time Conservative Councillor Terry King the deputy leader was quoted, describing this and other decisions they made at the time as spring cleaning. Mr King said the Hall should be sold with few restrictions.

Rutland County Council should be ashamed of themselves a few years ago this was a valuable public asset and they have left it to its current state of ruin.

The Council has provided little or no security, resulting in thefts of metals and York stone paving all very valuable.

I am told just before the council closed down the residential home it had just spent over £20,000 installing a new kitchen. This apparently has vanished, although appears to be no signs of a break-in.

I am also told a few Councillors attempted a visit and were given very restricted access guided by the Chief Executive.

The Council will of course now say the building is dangerous and beyond repair. That is their fault due to their shameful neglect.

Only a few years ago it was safe for people to live in and the local community enjoyed events in the grounds on open days. looking at the hall now Its hard to believe that was not so long ago.
