Dispatches investigates what's happened to the five-a-day campaign Oakham Woman did not know her five a day

Dispatches investigated what's happened to the five-a-day campaign. An Oakham Woman did not know her five a day, possibly because she failed to take the correct degree at Cambridge. If they had stopped Chief Executive Helen Briggs, I am sure she would have known, with her Home Economics Degree from Cardiff. It is alleged part of her five day is running a banana republic magnificently

As part of the show Dispatches wanted to find out what food they could make that would fall within the industry five-a-day guidelines. Sue Lloyd, a registered dietician and nutritionist, helped them design the recipe for their own half-coated chocolate, banana and raisin cookies.
With 120g of banana and 110g of raisins in the mixture, along with some sugar, flour, condensed milk and margarine, the biscuits are almost ready. Under the industry guidelines, each biscuit can contain up to 40% of our Guideline Daily Amount of salt, and up to 30% of sugar and saturated fat.
Even after dipping in chocolate, whilst sticking to industry guidelines, they can still say that each biscuit contains half a portion of your five-a-day.
Ingredients
180g self-raising flour
90g soft brown sugar
110g raisins
30g standard condensed milk
120g banana
90g polyunsaturated margarine
60g cooking chocolate for dipping, with additional milk for thinning
Total weight 680g = 76g per cookie
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
2. Combine flour and sugar in a large bowl, mix, and then add the polyunsaturated margarine. Continue mixing the mixture until well blended, resembling breadcrumbs.
3. Stir in the raisins, pureed banana and condensed milk. Use hands to kneed into a large single ball in the bottom of the bowl.
4. Take off small pieces, each slightly smaller than a golf ball. You should get around nine portions from this mix.
5. Roll balls between your palms and then press them slightly flat. Lay them on the greased baking tray and bake for about 10 minutes.
6. Remove cookies from oven and lay out on a rack to cool.
7. Melt cooking chocolate over a boiler; add a little milk to thin.
8. When the cookies are cool, half dip them into the chocolate.
9. Place on a sheet of greaseproof paper and leave to dry.

The biscuits looked delicious containing half a portion of your five-a-day!!
