The End RAF Cottesmore

The End RAF Cottesmore

Name Signs Removed

At 6.00pm,  The RAF flag was lowered for the last time at the base this evening. The RAF departed Rutland and handed the base over to the MOD for them to make preparation for the arrival of the Army.

MOD Guard Service

Some passing the gate said it was a sad day for Rutland. Maybe a sad day for councillors who have served the RAF for years, maybe they can now concentrate on serving the wider community.

Local Press  BBC to the Rutland Times

I actually found a visit to the nearby cemetery much much more saddening. So many names and ages as low as 20

I was surprised our Mayor Councillor Joyce Lucas did not stop to visit and pay tribute, particularly as she was a guest in the Parish of Cottesmore.

I spotted Tory Roger Begy and his wife driving his eco friendly Jag  both waved, I thought how cheerful it was to be in Rutland then the Chief Executive Helen Briggs approached Rutland's Iron Lady, I am not sure if the lack of expression is caused by botox  A similar face could be seen worn by Oakhams Mayor, things quickly returned to normality with the arrival of Rutlands High Sheriff Peter Lawson and his wife who both waved.

On my return to Oakham I had the misfortune to spot the Mayor speeding back to Oakham no consideration for the residents of Burley the flashing slow down sign is in place for a reason.
Even Leicestershire Constabulary managed to pass without triggering the warning sign.

I was impressed to see the MOD did not  treat the local
VIP's any different from the press or the local bus,
they all had to enter by the side gate and sign in
The High Sheriffs wife returns
to her car while Tory Leader Roger Begy waits in line

The RAF and MOD officials were waved
in through the main gate.

Both the Mayor and Chief Executive attempted the
main gate and were told to go away.

The Coalition For Equal Marriage @c4equalmarriage Don't Let Bigotry Stop Two People In Love* Getting Married

Don't Let Bigotry Stop Two People In Love* Getting Married
Get Involved
* Obviously that means two consenting adults, but woah, there are some particularly nasty
types suggesting otherwise on Twitter...

37,666 People Have Signed
The Petition So Far

  • Marriage Is Unique

On this one point we agree. Marriage is unique. It is a union of two people in love, for life,
to the exclusion of all others. A commitment upon which one can build a home and a family.
We just think it should be available to all who want that commitment.
  • Be Glad of Redefinition

Marriage has not remained unchanged since the dawn of time. It has changed throughout history,
adapting to each culture. In western culture it has more recently undergone changes to better protect
the rights of women. Funnily enough, the Church of England (of which Lord Carey was head of as
Archbishop of Canterbury) introduced divorce into marriage in the UK when it broke from the papacy.
Divorce is the antithesis of marriage and the biggest change to the definition of marriage since its
inception. Marriage changes all the time, and the churches themselves have been doing it.
It isn't necessarily a bad thing.
  • Great Consequences

If marriage is redefined (again), those who believe in the modern definition of "traditional" marriage
the sun will keep shining, and toast will still have a tendency to land butter-side-down.
Couples seeking to adopt or foster will still be assessed based on the needs of the child,
as they should be. Also, if we're very lucky, schools might teach kids not to be massive bigots
like their parents, and we'll be one step closer to a cohesive, mature, civilised society.
  • Speak Up

We agree with C4M; people should not feel pressurised to go along with same sex marriage
just because of political correctness. Take Ben Summerskill's advice: If you're against
same-sex marriage you should marry someone of the opposite sex.
The government will be launching a public consultation on proposals to bring in full marriage equality.
This will provide an opportunity for members of the public to make their views known.

My husband also wears a different hat, one for each day of the week, Town Partnership, Councillor, Community Partnership.... oh so many, he's hoping they will make him a special one when he is Mayor. Of course if you're husband is made Mayor you will have to lend him yours, co-opted Councillors can not be paid allowances. Maybe one of the two lodges will lend him some cash?

The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) reports that there are around 1.3 million

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) living in Iraq. Most are unable to return to their areas of origin because of the difficult security situation, the destruction of their homes, or a lack of access to services.

Between 2003 and 2011 the Department for International Development (DFID) provided over £200 million of humanitarian assistance to IDPs, other vulnerable groups in Iraq, and Iraqi refugees outside Iraq, through the United Nations (UN) agencies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The UK will continue to provide support to populations affected by displacement in Iraq until 2014, as part of a project implemented in several countries by the Norwegian Refugee Council. Multilateral agencies such as the UN also continue to provide assistance in this area. In particular, the UNHCR is working with the Government of Iraq to end displacement, through a comprehensive plan which is due to become fully operational in 2012. The UK is also providing wider support to help create a more stable and prosperous Iraq, to which all Iraqis can return.

Stamford Road Oakham Car Park

I was a passenger in a car yesterday and experienced the nightmare that is Stamford Road
I can't believe Rutland County Council is happy it has created this danger with its rather
stupid parking policy that forces those who use to park in their car park to park along this busy
road. Cars parked along the road and then you might just notice the white van roof on the right
one of many parked on the pavement. Its hard to believe this is a main road and major bus route.

Labour 'disappointed' as Galloway hails Bradford West a purfect win

Labour 'disappointed' as Galloway hails Bradford West a purfect win

George Galloway has said his surprise victory in the Bradford West by-election showed the "alienation" of voters from the main political parties.

I say well done and hope this sends out a warning to all the rubbish out there, it's time for change.

Last night  a civic event was held by Oakham Town Council this is a tiny example of the reason we need change.

Many people work very hard in Oakham to pay for events like last nights that have no purpose.

The Mayor recently, went on about how wonderful she is because the tax payer did not pay for her wine at the two previous events, now we see from a photo set all the elite enjoying  food and booze all paid for by those hard working tax payers, because? because its nice and enjoyable for the Mayor.

I think a strong message has been sent out by the voters, we here promise after promise and what happens nothing. Maybe post last nights party some of those present have read the Galloway Headlines and will; take time to reflect about what they are doing.

We have just had a budget for the Rich criticised by the Labour Rich! I wonder if Oakham Town Council was celebrating the budget.

We were told we are in it all together, what rubbish!

How many of us can afford to throw parties for large groups of the local elite.

Of course Oakham Town  Council can because they are spending your money. The Mayor is likely to say its OK because it comes out of her allowance.

I really like this photo set because the photographer has broken all the rules by showing the elite stuffing their faces. http://www.oakhampeople.co.uk/pictures/Mayor-Oakham-Cllr-Joyce-Lucas-Civic-Service/pictures-15663273-detail/pictures.html

Mayor of Oakham, Cllr Joyce Lucas & Deputy Mayor Cllr Charles Haworth Civic Service

Mayor of Oakham, Cllr Joyce Lucas' Civic Service

It now makes sense why Councillor Charles Haworth, sent me such a rude email late last night.

He had returned from a Civic Service and Reception held by Oakham Town Councils Mayor
Councillor Joyce Lucas.

This of course was paid for by the local tax payer.

As you can see from the photo set, a special cake was commissioned for the event.
Plenty of food and booze was provided  for the invited elite.

In the photo set one Cllr and his wife is inccorectly named.

This afternoon I received a email from a reader of my blog name and address supplied.

Dear Martin

You have said “I wrote to Oakham Town Council Councillors. Charles Howarth replied:

‘Why are you sending me this? Please do not send me any emails under any circumstance. Any communication from is entirely unwanted and may be referred to the police for action to be taken against you.’

This is the man who called himself ‘Lardboy’ and wrote such dreadful rubbish on the internet and then became a troll, whom, Inspector Monks protected and refused to investigate or prosecute. Inspector Monks subsequently received ‘Learning Points’ on his personnel file for his failures in investigating the trolls on Oakham Town Council. Hardly surprising when you consider one of the trolls was Special Constable Adam Lowe.

In fact I witnessed Inspector Monks and Cllr Charles Howarth huddled in a carel in Oakham Library together in around April 2010. Coincidentally blogs of harassment subsequently appeared which were frankly crimes of hate, were posted on the internet at the same time. But Charles Haworth is protected by the police. However the police appear to believe that, like Brutus, Charles is an honourable man.

This latest missive from Charles Haworth is odd. It begs the question:

Why did Cllr Charles Haworth unblock your address from his emails? Until quite recently Charles Haworth had said he had blocked emails from you. What sheer hypocrisy.

It would seem that Cllr Haworth has deliberately unblocked his receipt of your emails so that he is able to complain to the police about you – knowing full well the police will never ever seize his computer and investigate his offences against you. Charles Haworth’s message above is in preparation to complain to the police about you – yet again. Is Charles Haworth not aware that as a Town Councillor and Deputy Mayor he holds public office? Is Charles Haworth so secure in his faith in the police that he thinks his vexatious behaviour will be overlooked, yet again, as he tries to inveigle you in a controversy to waste yet more police time? Is this another trivial attempt to paint himself as the victim? I rather think Charles Haworth’s message to you is a repeat of the ‘mince pie gate’ incident last Christmas. Luckily on that occasion the police saw sense and refused to treat Cllr Haworth seriously. Let’s hope that good sense prevails under Inspector Mistry – after all Johnny Monks and the brothel have decamped together to Loughborough and Charles Haworth should try to understand that perhaps the days of Oakham being a rotten borough are now numbered.
