Christine Emmett has today been selected by the Corby and East Northamptonshire Conservative Association to contest the by-election.

If I was voting in Corby I would not vote for Christine because she is a Tory and a Rutland County Councillor

Christine is of course one of a few Rutland County Councillors who has manners. Something lacking of many  Rutland Tories.

Christine lives in a Windmill Morcott Rutland LE15 9DQ  Tel: 01572 747000
As she takes her first steps into Corby I think she might be in for a surprise the problems in Corby are far greater than Rutland.
You only have to look the local paper, its not full of nice things like here
in Rutland

BMW smashed up and set alight in Corby

Magistrates show man caught with two knives no mercy

Police investigating cause of blaze at Corby school

County crackdown on alcohol-related violence

Then of course the biggest complaint in this area is Tory MP's are elected to be rarely seen working in their constituencies ever again.

If you don't believe me read the letters in  the Stamford Mercury...

Christine Emmett has a degree in Economics, and was a member of William Hague’s Northern Transport Commission, She also worked for Marks & Spencer and still dresses smartly in their outfits.
She does a lot for charity, she often raises cash by living on £1 a day that does not include the fuel to go out and by it or heat it. But it gives her an insight as to how the poor live.

I wish her luck, I did tell her she was to good for Rutland County Council.

She will have to work hard to catch the votes the bookies are not rating her chances.

Christine Emmett has today been selected by the Corby and East Northamptonshire Conservative Association to contest the by-election.

Conservative Party Candidate, Christine Emmett said:
"I feel truly honoured to have be selected as the Conservative candidate for Corby and North East Hants and I relish the chance to fight the upcoming by-election.

"I want to provide real local leadership, standing up for you and being a strong voice for our community in parliament.

"Local people want a local candidate who listens to them and knows how to get things done. I have experience across a number of sectors, having raised money for charity, worked with the health service and run my own business. I want to use my understanding and knowledge to represent the people of Corby and North East Hants.

"I will spend the next few weeks and months traveling around the constituency and listening to people like you. I want to know your view, your problems, your concerns so that I can best represent you and serve our community."

Conservative Party Co-Chairman, Sayeeda Warsi said:
"I am delighted to announce that Christine has been selected as the Conservative Party candidate for Corby and East Northamptonshire.

"Christine has real experience of the working world, and will be a leader for the local community, standing up for the entire constituency and working hard for its residents. By choosing a career politician as their candidate, Labour has shown that they are more concerned with keeping it in the family than truly representing the local people.

"I am looking forward to hitting the campaign trail in the coming weeks, knocking on doors with Christine and showing that the Conservative Party is on the side of hard working people."

Councillor  Christine Emmett (Conservative) Parliamentary Candidate Rutland County Councillor.

When I first met Christine Emmett, I thought she was too good for Rutland County Council and even more shocked to find she was a Rutland Tory. Her vocabulary and diction stretched further than your average Rutland Tory Thug.
She called me by name rather than Idiot or something worse.
I remember asking her at an event, had she ever worked for central government, she said no.
Now I hear she was in Downing Street as a hopeful Parliamentary candidate. Good luck Christine, You need to get out of Rutland before you turn into a typical Rutland Tory drunken old boot.

Please! if you are successful and become an MP try not to forget how you existed for two weeks on £1 a day for food. I and many others do that out of necessity living on basic benefits.
I spend £10 a week on food. I am pleased to hear your dog eats better than you did for the two weeks.

Christine raised £750 for charity.

Residents who live in and around Stamford Road in Oakham are being asked for their views on how best to manage street parking in their area.

Residents who live in and around Stamford Road in Oakham are being asked for their views on how best to manage street parking in their area.
  • No waiting at any time on Stamford Road (Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm)
  • 2 hour parking on roads off Stamford Road (including the Edmonton Way estate and Sculthorpe Close)

Rutland County Council is starting a formal consultation, which is the final stage before implementation, this week on a number of proposals, and anybody interested has until 17 September to make their views known.

View the Stamford Road Parking Consultation webpage for more details

Council Leader Roger Begy commented: “We’ve been speaking to people living in this area of Oakham for some months, and these proposals are the result of lots of dialogue and informal discussions. We hope we’ve come up with a solution that will actually solve a problem rather than move it from one area to another.”
Councillor Begy added: “It’s a difficult balancing act and a great deal of thought and consideration has gone into these detailed proposals. We’ve had to consider the impact of any changes not only on those who currently use certain roads for parking, but also for residents and visitors to homes in the local area.”
Councillor Begy went on to say: “We’ve considered this area of Oakham as part of  a wider review of parking across the whole town.  This is the first time that the council has carried out a full review rather than dealing with problems in isolation. I hope that will put us in a good position for the future.”
The main proposals being advertised for consultation are:
The full list of changes to parking regulations for Stamford Road, the Edmonton Way estate and Sculthorpe Close, can be viewed in the Rutland Times (23 August) or on the council website by following the link above.
Visitors to Customer Services at the Council Offices can also view a large map of the proposals.
Comments received will be taken into account before the proposals are finalised.

Residents who live in Ashwell and Whitwell are being encouraged to have their say about how to best protect the appearance of their village. Conservation areas

undefined

Residents who live in Ashwell and Whitwell are being encouraged to have their say about how to best protect the appearance of their village. Conservation areas
The council is seeking views on possible changes to the Conservation Areas which are already in place throughout both villages (Whitwell since 1979 and Ashwell since 1999).
The purpose of a conservation area is not to prevent development but to make sure that any changes made do not have a negative impact on the local character of the area.
A draft Conservation Area Appraisal has been produced for both villages, which provides more detailed guidance on their special character and appearance.  These aim to specify what is important about a conservation area and what further measures could be taken to protect it.

Councillor Terry King (pictured left), Deputy Leader of Rutland County Council, says: “There are already 34 conservation areas in Rutland and they work extremely well to protect the heritage and rural nature of our villages. It’s important that we revisit them from time-to-time to make sure they are still relevant and whether any changes need to be made.”
Councillor King added: “Those living in Ashwell and Whitwell should see this as a chance to comment on whether any proposed changes are appropriate.  It’s important they have their say as once agreed, the detail of each conservation area is taken into account when planning applications are considered.  We want as many people as possible to comment from both areas and look forward to receiving their views.”
In Ashwell, it is recommended that houses still have to apply for planning permission to make any external changes to their property, but residents are specifically asked whether this should include solar panels on the front roof slope of houses.
In Whitwell, residents are being asked whether they want to introduce the rule about applying for planning permission (free) when making changes to the front of properties, and whether or not the existing conservation area should be extended to cover land to the rear of buildings on the north side of the main road.
The full consultation documents for both Ashwell and Whitwell can be viewed at the Council offices in Oakham, at all Rutland libraries or on the council websitewww.rutland.gov.uk/conservationareaappraisals
Printed copies of the document can be downloaded from the Council’s website or are available on request from the Council.
Comments should be sent to the Council in writing during the consultation period starting on 3rd September and ending at 4:45pm on 1st October 2012.
Comments may also be submitted by using the response form available on the website or by email to localplan@rutland.gov.uk.
For enquiries please email localplan@rutland.gov.uk or ask for the David Trubshaw, Conservation officer or the Planning Policy Section on 01572 722577.
