Rutland Council Planning and hospitality

Rutland Council Planning and hospitality.

Watching a show all about planning this week I was reminded of how, Rutland County Councillors don't think laws apply to them.

In the show a couple had a site visit from the local councillors, it was a hot day so the home owners put out a spread in their back garden for Councillors and planning officers to enjoy. They all refused the hospitality because it would be a breach of the laws to accept. Although the did in the attend accept bottled water for the coach trip back.

I often wonder why so many laws and rules don't apply to our councils here in Oakham and Rutland?

Thinking back to the hospitality given by Waitrose at the Whipper Inn Hotel and exploited to it's max by mainly by beer swilling Conservative Councillors.

An employee of the John Lewis partnership expressed shock and disgust after the event.

"We normally expect people to consume the odd glass of wine and pick up the tab, it was like we had led farm yard animals to the trough, I have never seen anything like it" he said.
