Oakham Town Council attempting to control filming of meetings

Oakham Town Council attempting to control filming of meetings

At the next meeting of Oakham Town Council

WEDNESDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER 2014 AT 7.30 PM

The following item will be considered on their agenda.

DRAFT PROTOCOL FOR THE RECORDING OF MEETINGS (Appendix G)
To consider a draft protocol and to make any decisions as appropriate

Rutland County Council tell the public and members meetings are filmed
and if anyone objects they should leave.

I read in the Stamford Mercury the same is said at Stamford Town Council
meetings.

This agenda item is another example of how Oakham Town Council
desires to control peoples freedoms.

If Oakham Town Council introduce any form of protocol I for one will
not comply with it.

Since the law changed I have recorded meetings and published on YouTube
and my filming as not interfered with the operations of the council.

Of course having a camera at hand is great to capture people like
The Deputy Mayor Cllr Oaf Dewis.

I am looking for to seeing the draft  (Appendix G) Monday
Oakham Town Council still does comply with the localism
act which requires the publication of all documents attached
to agendas.
