Oakham Town Council Spends £200 to put up easy use Gazebos at Christmas Light Switch On

After the Christmas light switch on, I found the council had
made a payment of £200 as an additional cost of the Christmas
lights switch on. No further description was given.

I asked the council for further information, I was shocked to
find the Town Council paid its local contractor £200 to erect and
take down the gazebos. I asked Cllr Adam Lowe why he and
other had not carried out the job and why the council had not
asked for volunteers. No reason was given.

At a meeting on the 8th August 2012

Members received a verbal report from  ex Cllr Charles Haworth

His report backed up by Cllr Joyce Lucas they explained their
requirement for the council to spend £2306.68 on Gazebos

They explained the high cost was due to the quality and the ease in
which councillors would be able to erect and take them down.

Once again Oakham Town Council shows no consideration
for the tax payers money.
