Oakham Town Council Christmas Lights and Tree

Oakham Town Council Christmas Lights and Tree

The Rotary are no longer willing to assist with the provision of a tree.

If Oakham Town Council had not agreed to support the Rotary purchase
a few years ago when the Rotary said they could no longer afford it, embarrassment
for the Rotary would have been avoided.

Oakham Town Council a great supporter of these old clubs and decided it would
contribute a large sum of money towards the cost three years ago.

In the second year this was made public due to the Rotary still claiming the
tree was a gift from them.

The town's Christmas lights, if the council is to find a new contractor and keeps the
lights they purchased 3 years ago. with the increased budget they should be able to
double the display this year.

And if they demand the contractor does not sub contract then maybe
the cost to put them up and take them down each year may cost many
thousands less.

I can not understand why the council feels the need to set up another sub
committee for this project the have less than twelve members so its not
as if they are overwhelmed by offers of assistance.
