Candidates joined the private visit this afternoon.



Julie Smith, Lib Dem is an academic specialising in European politics. Also a Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Robinson College.

She is also a Liberal Democrat local councillor representing Newnham on Cambridge City Council since 2003, and a vice-chair of the Liberal Democrats Federal Policy Committee.

In August 2014, it was announced that she would be made a life peer  and on 12 September the Queen conferred upon her the title of Baroness Smith of Newnham

The group were joined by some Liberal Democratic Candidates hoping to be re-elected
back onto Rutland County Council Sam Asplin and Gale Waller.
