Oakham Town Council Modernises
From this evening meeting the Chairman of Oakham Town Council
decided to end an old age tradition.
Cllr Alf Dewis decided he will arrive before Councillors and the public
to greet them.
In the past it was traditional for Councillors to await the chairman's
arrival and stand upon them entering the room.
Apparently not worshiping the chairman but worshiping the large
gold chain.
Maybe one day the chain will be sold for charity instead of spending
hundreds each year adding a new link resulting in every chairman
moaning its too heavy.
