Oakham Town Council Special Meeting Accounts Incorrect.

Yesterday I enjoyed a chat with a fellow Councillor is does not happen often.
I say enjoyed if I ignore their daft request. "I don't read your blog but can't you just
be the bigger person and stop publishing this blog for ten days" I ask why do Oakham
Town Councillor have such an issue with my blog?
The Councillor then asked could I publish something nice. I often do and I was
surprised such an intelligent person based their question of rumour and gossip.

We both concluded Oakham Town Council is unprofessional both in the way it
manages its affairs and conducts itself. I doubt if we will be hearing that Councillor
publicly stating that very soon.

On Monday we are holding a special meeting to reconsider approved audited accounts.

Unprofessional and Incompetent!

Concerns raised by two new councillors and myself at the last full council
meeting were ignored and all other members approved and accepted the
accounts.

It has taken an unqualified person of the old council to point out a further
two mistakes before we have reached this mistake.

Strangely that councillor states this is not a serious issue, personally I can't
think of anything more serious than failings in accounting for the publics
money.

On Monday I won't be voting to approve the account in the current state
and I will be asking for an external auditor to be called in.

Last year Oakham Town Council paid a casual worker to put out chairs
at the summer concerts and this employment does not show because
he was paid cash in hand in the form of cheques. These payments
were not shown in staffing costs. I wonder how much more of the
accounts are incorrect.

Despite my offer to save the tax payer money and do the job
this year for free the Clerk arranged for this man to start
again this year without the knowledge of the full council
After a discussion the Clerk reversed his decision.

Who runs this council? All its members or the Clerk and Alf Dewis?

As to date not all members including myself have received a
copy of the restated accounts.
