Oakham Town Council proposing a 2% Council Tax Increase, Rutland County Council proposes 3.99 per cent tax increase

Oakham Town Council proposing a 2% Council Tax Increase, Rutland County Council proposes 3.99 per cent tax increase

This evening Oakham Town Council is to vote on a proposed 2% council increase.

The increase will mainly cover the rising costs of administrating the council. Something
I think should be cut, most of Oakham Town Councils income is spent on administrating
it and very little else.

I read today Rutland County Council is proposing to increase its to increase its tax demand
by 3.99% The last 6 year has seen no increase due to a government grant which has now
been terminated.

I am pretty sure there will be an increase demand from the police and fire authority.
meaning residents are going to find things a bit more difficult from April.

Oakham Town Council will continue to waste money.

The big issue today has been who pays for the coffee, purchasing coffee for Councillors
and staff was banned when Cllr Joyce Lucas was last Mayor. She forgot to ban expenditure
on Wines and Spirits and Tacky Chocolate Shot Glasses.

This month (28th January 2016) Cllr Alf Dewis Mayor is spending public money on
a civic reception at the museum taxpayers money will be used to purchase wine for
this event. No Baileys or Chocolate Shot Glasses are expected.

I wont be drinking wine paid for by the taxpayer, if any Oakham taxpayer would
like to attend as my guest please contact me.
