Oakham Town Council Budget Meeting 9th January 2018 Agenda

Oakham Town Council rejected the 2018 - 2019 Budget at their last meeting.

The presentation prepared by Cllr Michael Haley and Cllr Peter Ind was dreadful
The budget draft we are being asked to reconsider next week at a special meeting
appears to be no different.

I would like to give a link to the draft budget document but unfortunately the
Clerk has not published on the website as required.

The council voted at a previous meeting to carry out repairs to the footpaths in
Cutts Close and charge it to residents over the next two years, It appears this
has not be considered in the budget.

The budget is presented on two pieces of A4 paper, the accounting software is not
used.

I continue not to accept our accounts as the Clerk does not use the software we paid
thousands of pounds for we also paid for her training.

At the last meeting, I once again raised this issue and the clerk insulted all members
by saying she does not use the new software fully because members might not
understand the reports. I tend to believe it is the clerk who does not understand how to use
it.

Although the council is not proposing to offer any more services to the community the
draft budget is showing a very large increase for 2018 - 2019
