Subject: RE: Enforcement - Trees being removed at former Lonsdale House, Barleythorpe Road

Dear Mr Brookes

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the above, officers visited the site on Monday and found no evidence of trees being removed. There was however a pile of timber from demolition on the site.

Regards

Dear Mr Longhurst

Please send your officers immidiatly for eye tests.

As you enter the main gate all the trees leading down the drive
have been cut down.

Please look at this photo set taken on the day I called
your department it includes evidence that very mature
trees were felled.

In front of the timber pile you mention you can see
a root ball from a uprooted tree.

Bellway Homes, Barleythorpe Road, Oakham, Rutland, Temporary Traffic Control

Bellway Homes, Barleythorpe Road, Oakham, Rutland, Temporary Traffic Control

I hope Bellway Homes are causing the disgusting homophobic
town Councillor a lot of inconvenience, that's his house on the
left, his car was blocked in today.

The main worry and purpose of this post is to point out the
danger possibly danger caused by people moving the warning signs.
So they can park.

Larkfleet Homes, Barleythorpe Road, Burley Park Way, Oakham, Rutland 9 new shops, A new Town?

Larkfleet Homes, Barleythorpe Road, Burley Park Way, Oakham, Rutland 9 new shops, A new Town?

Oakham North is looking more and more like a new town creation.

1000's of new homes, Supermarkets, Petrol Station, Large Family Pub, Hotel, A small community centre (Terry King diverted most of the 106 funding for a larger sports community centre to outside Oakham) are all on there way.

Next week Oakham Town Council will look at the plans for 9 new shops

7pm Victoria Hall.

2014/0546/RES Larkfleet Homes
Reserved Matters for the erection of 9 local centre retail units and 30 No. one
 and two bedroom apartments
Land between Barleythorpe and Burley Park Way

Whilst Oakham is expanding Rutland County Councils Tories appear to be doing little provide the extra services that will be required for these new residents, Doctors, Schools are two examples of essential services over subscribed here in Oakham.

Save Barleythorpe Field Face Book Group Oakham Rutland

This weekend Oakham Resident set up a facebook group to save the Barleythorpe Road field.

In a short period they gained 50 members.

Save Barleythorpe Road Field Click Here for facebook group

Oakham Town Council, decided not to support my request to save the land.

They decided led by Cllr Alf Dewis, my proposal to work with the community to purchase the land for the public was a task far too big for the town council.

Smaller parish councils have purchased land like this, I wonder what size project this Town Council could handle. My guess is nothing.,....

I hope the residents succeed with out the help of the Town Council.

Barleythorpe Road, Oakham, Residents, Question Rutland County Council, Parking, Parks School

Barleythorpe Road Oakham, Residents Question Rutland County Council, Parking, Parks School

Residents from Barleythorpe Road, questioned Rutland County Council.

For many years residents have enjoyed a unwritten informal agreement, they can park their cars in the school grounds, so not to cause traffic problems along the Barleythorpe Road.

Residents want confirmation they would be able to continue this arrangement once the school has closed.

The deputy leader Councillor Terry King answered residents concerns and said he would discuss the matter with property services.

Later in the meeting Cllr King answering a similar question from Councillor Gale, let slip Rutland County Council obviously knew what they had planned for the site, when the security the site was mentioned, he said it may have to be locked when it was used for storage.

It is my understanding the highways depot is closing and the offices returning to the main council offices.
They have no place to store the trucks and other vehicles. I wonder if they are going to be stored at the Parks School site.

Barleythorpe Road, Oakham, Tresham College Land For Sale

Land for sale!

One of Oakham's few remaining green fields is to be sold.

Some time ago I blogged my thoughts about this and suggested The public and Town Council purchase the land. Its a big project and not one that is not possible.

On Monday the Town Council will be asked its view.

It may be possible to claim various grants.

I believe there is enough support for saving this green field for the communtiy.

If you have any comments and any offers of help please email me at councillormartinbrookes@email.com

Tresham Institute Land, Barleythorpe Road, Oakham, Rutland

Tresham Institute owns this very nice piece of land along Barleythorpe Road. It will soon be selling it to a developer. It seems such a pity. The Land is used by local residents for recreation.

The Tresham Institute has recently erected new legal notice permitting access something the public has done for many years.

I am hoping Oakham Town Council will support the protection of this open green space, we all live in a lovely town, but it lacks open public spaces.

I am hoping Oakham Town Council along with residents will help buy this land and return it to the town. I noticed it contains a memorial tree.

I think Councillor Charles Haworth has been walking his dogs here for more than 40 years so maybe as its his ward along with Councillor Lucas they can work on something too save this land from developers.
