THERE'S A MONSTER IN MY PIANO

6 OCT 2012

What do you do when you hear a strange munching noise inside a piano? Call the Piano Doctor of course. He might be able to help with his bag full of ears and his collection of weird and wonderful tools. But when he looks inside - the musical notes are packing their bags and running away. What are they scared of and who is hammering at the keys?
Children and adults alike will be delighted with this offbeat jazzy tale. Starring puppets, clowning, animation and a very highly strung monster indeed.
Puppet theatre for all ages over 4
This show is a part of Little Curve and will be hosted in Rehearsal Room 2.

A Christmas Carol, Curve, theatre, Leicester

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

6 - 8 DEC 2012
STUDIO PERFORMANCE

By Charles Dickens, told by Mike Maran, with music written by Alison Stephens, performed by Norman Chalmers (concertina), and directed by Patrick Sandford.

Scrooge is a terrible miser - but he can't be all bad.  He could hardly become so beautifully transformed at the end of the story if he never has the potential in the first place.
The ghosts aren't so frightening - well maybe just a little bit scary.  They lead Scrooge down the roads of the past, present, and future because he wants to see eveyrthing that they can show him.
Scrooge's nephew, Fred, laughs all the way through the story.  If you should happen, by any unlikely chance, to know a man more blest in laugh than Scrooge's nephew all I can say is that I'd like to know him too.  From the same team that delighted audiences withCaptain Corelli's Mandolin, mesmeric storyteller Mike Maran brings you a sparkling new production of the Charles Dickens seasonal favourite.

Babatsheva Ensemble with Deca Dance, Curve, theatre, Leicester

BABATSHEVA ENSEMBLE WITH DECA DANCE

16 NOV 2012
THEATRE PERFORMANCE

DANCE CONSORTIUM PRESENTS BATSHEVA ENSEMBLE WITH
DECA DANCE

“It is the collective energy alongside the music that defines Batsheva” The Guardian
Batsheva Ensemble is the younger wing of Israeli’s outstanding and world class contemporary dance group Batsheva Dance Company and this is their first trip to the UK.
Led by choreographic supremo Ohad Naharin, Batsheva’s dancers were described as “acrobats of God” by the San Francisco Chronicle.  Naharin has said of his dancers that he wants them to be “people that are connected to their sensuality, to their demons.  People that are capable of laughing at themselves.  Musicality, groove – I’m attracted to people with groove”  And in the Ensemble he has selected dancers, aged between 18 and 24 and from countries around the world, that are just that. Rarely will you see such urban, gritty and skilled dancers as these.
Deca Dance brings together memorable and favourite segments of Naharin’s creations from the last 20 years.  The piece is constantly updated and so offers a fresh look at the work created by Batsheva every time it is performed.  It is set to a sensational compilation of music ranging from The Beach Boys to Vivaldi and on to Dean Martin.

Entertaining Mr Sloane, Curve, theatre, Leicester

ENTERTAINING MR SLOANE

2 - 24 NOV 2012
STUDIO PERFORMANCE

It is the swinging 1960s and sexy, cocksure, charismatic young Mr. Sloane is looking for a place to live.  Middle-aged Kath offers herself as his landlady but is also offering something else.  Her younger brother Ed is also looking for some action but their elderly and inquisitive father is unfortunately in the way.
Entertaining Mr Sloane is a sleek, dark and sexy comedy written by one of Britain's most notorious playwrights - Leicester's own Joe Orton, and was his first full-length play establishing him as one of the most significant writers of stage farce in the twentieth century.  This wickedly funny, and sometimes violent play caused a stir when it first opened in London during the age of the sexual revolution.  The play has gone on to win many awards with revivals worldwide.  Orton's other works include Loot and What the Butler Saw in an explosive and successful career cut short by his untimely and violent death in 1967.
This Curve Production is directed by Artistic Director Paul Kerryson, whose previous plays include Absurd Person Singular, Dolly West's Kitchen, The Pillowman starring Marc Warren, The Lieutenant of Inishmore both by Martin McDonagh.
