Street Child World Cup, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. No child should live on the streets.

undefined

Street Child World Cup. Similar to a football club, the Street Child World Cup
is a community of supporters without whom we would cease to exist.

In 2014 children from 16 countries will play football, share their stories and
be part of a unique international conference for street children's rights in
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. No child should live on the streets.

We are asking you to sign up to the Road to Rio. It maybe through your time, your talent
or your treasure but please do get in touch.

We're on the Road to Rio. Are you coming with us?

Become a Champion
We are seeking champions who will help us set up a regular
giving backbone to our campaign in order to make 2014 a reality.
Our success depends on your support.
All you need to do is CLICK THIS LINK and follow the instructions.
You will receive updates with the very latest news as well as opportunities to attend special events and to get more involved.
How your donation will help street children:
£250 a month lets a team tell their story with digital camera
equipment and training.
£100 a month provides ID and passports for children – ‘nobodies’ become somebodies.
£20 a month gets football equipment, art materials – safe play for
kids.
£5 a month means they get a real football – not the bundle of
socks they normally use.
There is also the opportunity to win prizes with regular giving.
You could win tickets to Brazil in 2014! Goaaaaal!
We have 16 countries and we could not do this without you.
This is more than a game.

First came the Big City Sleep and now we are pleased to let you know
that we will be rolling out Rough Sleeps all over the country, some small,
some big but all with the same end: to raise awareness and vital funds.
And we want you to host your own sleeps be it on your university campus,
your local football field or in the centre of the city.

Recently a youth group in North Walsham, Norfolk decided to run their
own Rough Sleep with a little help from staff at Street Child World Cup.
They made it to the local press and raised over £600, putting on a meal
and quiz and then sleeping out on cardboard boxes in the church garden.
The organiser, Gina Luckwell told us

‘We had heard about the Street child World Cup and the London
'Big City Sleep’
but it was just too far to go. However, the youth group felt inspired to do
something to support The Street Child World Cup so we asked if we could
run our own event. We were helped with publicity and advice and had an
enjoyable evening that helped us and others to think about the issues
faced by street children and of course raised nearly £600'

Inspired by the youth of North Walsham and their desire to hold their
own event we decided to put together some materials to help people run
‘Do It Yourself’ Rough Sleeps closer to home. We have prepared everything
you need to set up a really successful event. Click here for publicity posters,
articles, a checklist, information booklet and sponsorship form. And take a
look at this film from The Big City Sleep for some inspiration.

The young people were given a guided historical tour of the
Houses of Parliament before raising a banner they had made on Parliament Green

Children the team from Brazil took football to the lawns of Westminster to raise
awareness of those young people still living and working on the streets.
To mark the International Day for Street

This Saturday I attend a  event at St Luke's Church in the Borough of Islington.

A informative event highlighting the terrible situation in Brazil and other countries

with Street Children.

Whilst we enjoyed a menu of traditional Brazilian Food we watched a couple of

videos and listened to the children from the Brazilian team and support workers
from Brazil, some of the team members put on a dance performance for us.

The event also promoted Street Child World Cup Rio De Janerio 2014

"Sometimes its hell on the street but when I play football I feel as if I'm in heaven"
